Work Units scale from one unit to any number and may be used in parallel. You approve scope before work begins. If a job is not suitable for a Work Unit, we return the credit before work begins. A Modulus engineer checks every deliverable before it ships, and every delivered unit includes reviewed work, documented assumptions, limits reached, and recommended next steps. Where a ready-built Modulus component fits or saves time, it is offered as an optional, separate license. Also see our Enterprise Solutions and Production Support options.
Work Unit specifications
A Work Unit is engineer-directed AI work with a 24-hour turnaround time. You send a job description, Modulus routes the work through AI workcells which have access to Blueprint and Code Foundry, a Modulus engineer runs human quality control on the result, and you receive a reviewed deliverable within 24 hours. A Work Unit is a turnaround window, not a quantity of labor: you buy the deliverable and the deadline, and how we produce it is on us. Jobs can be complex: the size of the job is variable, and the workcells scale up or down as needed. Bigger jobs are quoted in Work Units before work begins, run in parallel, and return reviewed work every day, not at the end.
Use Work Units for software development, bug fixes, integrations, automation, research, documentation, testing, QA planning, product specifications, technical review, architecture planning, customer support workflows, data analysis, market research, and business operations. For financial technology projects, Work Units also draw on Modulus source-code intelligence, production lessons, domain expertise, and patented infrastructure.
Not vibe coding. Fintech engineeringNot vibe coding
AI engineering
Somewhere in your company, someone is already paid to feed a chatbot all day, and what comes out is raw, generic AI output. The code could break in production and may have serious security flaws. Modulus Work Units are the better option. Modulus engineers leverage Modulus Inferno™ AI workstations running Blueprint and Code Foundry to perform advanced engineering with a 24-hour turnaround: reviewed, tested, documented, and built on three decades of production engineering.
Building in-house? Work Units also cover assurance testing with independent audits of your code, trading logic, risk controls, and security, on the same 24-hour cycle. Use just one or two Work Units weekly to audit your AI engineering team's output.
A human responsible for results
A Modulus engineer runs the AI, reviews every deliverable, and answers for the work. You never babysit a chatbot.
Engineering, not output
Architecture, review, testing, and documentation on everything the workcells produce.
Thirty years behind every build
Modulus capital-markets source code, domain expertise, and patented infrastructure working inside your product.
A way to sell what you build

Accelerate with proven Modulus technology
Work Units replace or augment your internal engineering with elastic, engineer-directed AI capacity from Modulus. Each $399 Work Unit combines a Modulus engineer with AI-scale execution to compress days of conventional development into a 24-hour delivery cycle. Get the speed of AI, coupled with Modulus source code, without leaving your team responsible for prompting, supervision, quality control, and final review.
Start with Work Units to build what your project requires. When proven infrastructure can save time, reduce risk, and strengthen the finished system, you may optionally license and integrate Modulus components that have already performed at global scale. Our exchange matching engine has powered some of the largest exchanges in the world. Our charting technology has been used by millions of traders since 1997. Our backtesting and walk-forward testing engines evaluate strategies across 24 statistical benchmarks, while our market data, risk, compliance, and integration components bring decades of production experience into your build.
You develop what is unique to your business while using proven Modulus technology where rebuilding from scratch would add cost, delay, and unnecessary risk. Follow-up development and maintenance can continue through Work Units after launch. Live production support, emergency troubleshooting, monitoring, incident response, and 24/7 coverage are available through a separate production support package.
No long-term commitment or vendor lock-in
The old consulting model made you sign before you knew what you were getting: a contract, a retainer, a statement of work, and a team you paid whether it produced or not. Work Units invert that. You evaluate us every day, with reviewed work in hand, and you never sign your way into a relationship you cannot walk out of.
And you can stop worrying about SLAs. Service agreements exist to protect you from vendors who disappear. As long as you hold an active Work Unit, Modulus is on the job, and support, maintenance, and upgrades are delivered the same way everything else is: by the unit, for as long as you want them.
Modulus helps you scale
Work Units scale without changing shape. An entire trading platform, banking system, or exchange is built the same way, unit by unit: scale capacity up before launch and down after, pause on your funding timeline and resume without losing a line of work, and spend to your budget instead of a contract. See Enterprise Solutions.

Answers to the questions your committee will ask
Technology built for regulated markets is approved by the people responsible for risk, compliance, security, legal exposure, and business continuity. Modulus provides clear architecture, licensed source code, defined commercial rights, security review, audit support, and a delivery model built for accountable results.
“Will this work in production or just in the demo”
Our AI provides the first draft that implements our off-the-shelf components, then our engineers review and add test coverage. We deliver documentation and production-ready code with AI markdown, and ongoing support, maintenance, and training are delivered by the unit for as long as you want them.
“Who owns the IP and what is the provenance”
You get licensed, clean-title source code with documented provenance, plus AI development files and markdown. You receive an irrevocable perpetual license to the custom features developed using Modulus AI and to the existing source code, components, and documentation.
“Can our own team run it after delivery”
This is the benefit of licensing a coherent, human-architected codebase augmented with AI. Modulus provides full source code and development files so your engineers can leverage AI to maintain and extend the codebase, instead of paying extra for ongoing support to maintain a black box system.
“What happens when AI is not enough”
Modulus engineers handle this inside the work. When engineering becomes complex, your Modulus engineer makes the architecture decisions and solves the problems AI cannot, and the delivered code and documentation reflect it. When your risk team asks why the system is correct, there is an engineer at Modulus who can answer.

FAQs
If something matters to your decision that isn't here, just ask us.
A Work Unit is $399 worth of work performed by Modulus. Provide a job description, and a Modulus engineer directing Modulus-tuned AI returns a reviewed deliverable within 24 hours, checked by a human engineer. Not all jobs can be completed in 24 hours, but we'll do our best.
A Work Unit is a turnaround window, not a quantity of labor. You buy the deliverable and the deadline, such as one clearly scoped job, and you receive a reviewed deliverable back within 24 hours. How we produce it, with Modulus-tuned AI doing the heavy lifting and a Modulus engineer directing and checking the work, is on us. Each Work Unit returns reviewed work within the stated window, but it does not promise that a larger job or project will be complete in one unit.
Because you are not paying for hours. A Work Unit draws on 25 million lines of production fintech source code, patented infrastructure, 30 years of trade secrets, and AI workcells directed by a Modulus engineer, so the work starts from what we have already built and proven rather than from a blank page. The price reflects what AI-era delivery costs; the output stands on everything Modulus has built since 1997, which is also why raw AI and cheaper operators cannot match it.
No! Anyone can point a coding agent at a task; what comes back is raw output someone still has to check, test, and document. A Work Unit is engineer-directed AI execution: a Modulus engineer directs Modulus-tuned AI powered by our internal Blueprint™ and Code Foundry™ systems, which bring 25 million lines of production fintech source code, architecture patterns, and nearly three decades of production lessons into every job. That is why Modulus-tuned AI is not the same AI everyone else is using. The engineer reviews every deliverable before it ships and answers for the result: the engineer is the accountability, the AI is the performance.
A Work Unit is the trial: $399, no subscription, no long-term contract, and no minimum commitment. Send one clearly scoped job and receive a reviewed deliverable within 24 hours, so you evaluate Modulus with reviewed work in hand rather than a demo or a sales deck. If the work does not earn the next unit, you stop, and the deliverable remains yours to use under its license.
A single Work Unit returns reviewed work within 24 hours. You can purchase as many Work Units as needed, to run side-by-side, if your project is large and must be developed as fast as possible.
No. Work Units do not include revision cycles, acceptance periods, or ongoing support. If you want changes, continuation, bug review, or additional work after delivery, submit another Work Unit.
Production Support is available however it is sold separately. See Production Support.
Yes, on a weekly schedule. Clients with more than one active Work Unit meet with their Modulus engineer once each week in a scheduled alignment meeting to review delivered work and set direction for upcoming units. Outside that meeting, Work Units run on written requirements, with no per-unit calls, texts, chats, or email threads; that discipline is how a job that would normally cost thousands stays at $399. If your requirements are not clear enough to execute, we do not spend your unit asking questions. We return the credit before work begins with a written explanation of what was missing, and you resubmit with clearer instructions.
Yes. Work Units support a single job or a full platform build, and they run in parallel under your Modulus engineer's direction, so a ten-unit job does not take ten times as long. A company building an exchange, prediction market, broker platform, market-data product, or financial AI product buys Work Units as needed, pauses when needed, and resumes when ready. See Enterprise Solutions.
Each Work Unit returns reviewed work within 24 hours. Whether that completes your job depends on the job's size. Jobs that fit one unit come back done. Bigger jobs are quoted in units before work begins and return reviewed progress every day until the job is complete.
Most jobs are, but that's not a problem, and that's the benefit of Work Units. You can purchase multiple Work Units back-to-back or all at once to run in parallel.
Yes, but larger projects usually require multiple Work Units. A small focused job may take one unit. A technical module may take several. A platform-scale build may require dozens or hundreds of Work Units, licensed components, and production support.
If a submitted job is not suitable for a Work Unit, Modulus returns the credit before work begins with a brief explanation. You can revise and resubmit at no additional charge.
Completed products built with Modulus, or existing products integrated with Modulus, may become eligible for Modulus Partner review. Approved products may qualify for Modulus Client Network support, including demos, introductions, and outreach to relevant Modulus relationships.
A Work Unit includes the work: engineer-directed AI execution informed by Modulus source-code intelligence, architecture, and production lessons. Pre-built Modulus components and products, such as matching engines, charting, and connectivity modules, are licensed separately as an option. When a job could be served by an existing Modulus component, we will inform you, because licensing a proven component is often faster than rebuilding one. Components are never required; anything can be built in units instead.
Some infrastructure is faster and safer to license than rebuild. Where it makes sense, Modulus provides ready-built solutions that are instantly available, production-proven, and usually cost less than rebuilding them from scratch.
Then we build it the way we built financial systems for nearly three decades before AI existed: by hand. Traditional engineering engagements are available for firms that prefer them or whose policies restrict AI tooling, with AI tools limited or excluded entirely and your data-handling requirements honored. These engagements are scoped and quoted individually rather than priced in Work Units; schedule a call to discuss yours.
